THE FACE, THE BASE AND EMBODIED COMPASSION

* NOVEMBER 5TH - 8TH 2015 *

WITH MICHAEL SHEA B.A., M.A., Ph.D, B.C.S.T.

This new advanced course on Primary Respiration and stillness includes in-depth explorations of the heart and vascular system. It will give students new cardioceptive skills for working with the arteries of the face, the cranium and extremities. A biodynamic approach will be taught for the arterial system and balancing its pressure, flow and heat distribution systemically and neurologically. Dynamic stillness will be the basis of the class, and specific vascular structures around the occipito-atlantal (O-A) joint and face will be detailed. These skills will include working with the arterial system in the face and around the cranial base in order to stabilize and transform the autonomic nervous system into a sense of embodied compassion. In this way, the social nervous system of the client can work optimally. A brief overview of the arteries of the lower extremities will also be covered. An embryonic approach to understanding the role of Primary Respiration and stillness in heart development will be the ground of the teaching.

Areas explored will include:

  • A new protocol for working with the O-A joint
  • New work with balancing cardiovascular system pressures
  • Learning to blend biodynamic and biokinetic work
  • Palpating the arteries of the face and cranium.
