THE ORIGINS OF HEALTH

WITH  MICHAEL KERN D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T., N.D.

FROM SEPTEMBER 12TH – 15TH 2013

IN NORMA, LATINA, ITALY

The biodynamic model of Craniosacral Therapy is based on an understanding of the forces of creation. In the human embryo these forces organize the movements that take place during our growth and development, and carry an essential ordering matrix into the body that acts as a blueprint for health. These original patterns of movement continue throughout our lives as expressions of primary respiratory motion, organizing our form and function. During this seminar we will explore this essential core of health, as well as the impact of conditioning experiences during gestation and the first few years of life. The emphasis will be on practical craniosacral approaches for resolving imprints of early trauma in infants and adults. There will be ample time for table work, reflection and meditation.

Topics covered will include:

  • what is health?
  • deepening into the wholistic shift - being a single drop like a single cell
  • our original blueprint for health; the perfection that lies at the core
  • the significance of pre-natal dynamics
  • dynamics of conception and implantation - inner cell body/outer cell body, therapists arms acting as connecting stalks
  • orienting to the whole, to the inner embryo and to the perfect fluid body
  • working with the natural fulcrums of the three embryological germ layers - the third ventricle, heart and umbilicus
  • the branchial arches and their derivatives
  • formation of the face and working with embryological fluid fields of the face
  • relating to cranial bones, facial bones, cranial nerves and muscles via the embryological fluid fields
  • the significance of the 'social engagement system' and polyvagal theory
  • embryological seams of the face
  • the role of space in the therapeutic process: finding space in tissues, fluids and potency
  • orienting to the divinity in our clients and in ourselves.

This workshop will include 26 hours of classroom attendance. Teaching will be in English and translated into Italian.

SENSORY AWARENESS - THE FIVE SENSES AND BEYOND

WITH MICHAEL KERN D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T., N.D.

IN GOTHENBERG, SWEDEN

FROM NOVEMBER 27TH – DECEMBER 1ST 2013

During this seminar we will gain knowledge of the five senses, their associated cranial nerves, and other less commonly described realms of sensory awareness. Other senses come into play as we enter more subtle realms of experience, such as imagination, inspiration, instinct and intuition, and these will be explored in the context of craniosacral practice. This evolving picture of sensory experience shows that the way we become aware of our world is a lot more complex than the mechanical models of the past. The seminar provides an opportunity to experience a clarification of our sensory capacity and find ways in which we can help clients develop their full potential. There will be ample time for table work and reflection.

Topics covered will include:

  • the senses of touch and movement
  • the twelve senses as outlined by Rudolph Steiner
  • the twelve pre-natal senses as described by David Chamberlain
  • the eyes, ears, nose and tongue and their associated cranial nerves
  • the newly-discovered "cranial nerve 0" or "Terminal nerve"
  • common clinical conditions involving these senses and their cranial nerves
  • the 'gut brain' and using our instinctual gut sense
  • working with the enteric nervous system
  • the role of the vagus nerves and treatment approaches
  • the faculty of interoception and its significance in health and trauma resolution; the insular cortex and anterior cingulate cortex
  • the heart as a sensory organ; sensing with the heart
  • using our whole physiology as barometers and instigators of change
  • developing the subtle senses in diagnosis and treatment.

Teaching will be in English and translated into Swedish. This workshop will include 32 hours of classroom attendance.

AN ADVANCED SERIES OF FIVE SEMINARS IN BIODYNAMIC CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY IN ST. PETERSBURG RUSSIA 2012-14

WITH MICHAEL KERN D.O., R.C.S.T., M.I.Cr.A.,B.C.S.T., N.D. AND KATHERINE UKLEJA D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T.

SEMINAR ONE:

BREATH OF LIFE - PERCEPTUAL SKILLS AND STATES OF BALANCE
WITH MICHAEL KERN D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T., N.D.
23RD - 27TH MAY 2012

This seminar will cover core diagnostic and treatment skills in biodynamic craniosacral practice. The pioneer of this approach, Dr William Sutherland, realised that the 'Breath of Life' is our deepest resource for healing which operates with the utmost intelligence and precision. In this workshop practitioners will learn how to appreciate and support the supremacy of the 'Breath of Life' as a therapeutic medium, and how to deepen into the heart of the healing process. An emphasis will be placed on working with the deeper rhythms of primary respiratory motion and helping to access 'states of balance'.

SEMINAR TWO:

THE STORY OF THE BODY - THE INHERENT TREATMENT PLAN AND AUGMENTATION SKILLS
WITH KATHERINE UKLEJA D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T.
5TH - 9TH DECEMBER 2012

During this seminar the practitioner will learn how to listen for the intelligent treatment priorities of the Primary Respiratory System, and initiate subtle palpatory and perceptual 'conversations' with tissues, fluids and potencies. These augmentation skills may be used for both diagnosis and treatment. The seminar will cover clinical skills necessary to work cooperatively with the healing and creative intentions of the Breath of Life. An emphasis is placed on relating to the deeper forces that organise our functioning.

SEMINAR THREE:

OUT INTO THE WORLD - PRE-NATAL AND BIRTH DYNAMICS IN BABIES, CHILDREN AND ADULTS
WITH MICHAEL KERN D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T., N.D.
20TH - 24TH APRIL 2013

Our early patterning creates the basis for how we face experiences throughout life. During this seminar we will look at pre-natal and birth dynamics and develop practical skills to safely and effectively relate to early traumatic patterning in babies, children and adults. In addition, we will seek to reconnect with the very ground of health and healing.

SEMINAR FOUR:

SPARK IN THE MOTOR - THE 'IGNITION' PROCESS AT CONCEPTION, BIRTH AND THROUGHOUT LIFE
WITH KATHERINE UKLEJA D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T.
13TH - 17TH NOVEMBER 2013

This seminar will focus on skills to help the physiological incarnation and manifestation of the vital potencies of the Breath of Life. We will consider the vital role played by fluids (particularly cerebrospinal fluid) in disseminating these potencies throughout our physiology. We will also work with the central nervous system and key areas of the brain to facilitate the expression of essential health. All practical clinical approaches are derived from a craniosacral biodynamic approach to work in the field.

SEMINAR FIVE:

FINDING WHOLENESS WITH MICHAEL KERN
D.O., R.C.S.T., B.C.S.T., N.D.
18TH - 22ND MAY 2014 IN LONDON

In this seminar the embryology, motility and mobility of body viscera will be introduced, and the practitioner will learn to orient to the heart and heart ignition. The embryological development of the face will be explored as well as therapeutic approaches for working with the fluid fields of the face. Work is geared to re-establish the original intention of cells and tissues via an appreciation of the Breath of Life, its midline dynamics and embryological organising forces. The seminar will help to integrate the work covered in previous seminars of this course.
